The John "Jake"
O'Connor Memorial Scholarship Fund
About Us
On October 31, 2001, Jake was tragically killed while working on the MBTA's Red Line. We lost a great man who touched so many people in our community. Jake was a husband, brother, uncle, coach and a fantastic friend to many people.
In his memory and in true Jake fashion, a scholarship fund was established in the hope of providing assistance to Norwood High School students in need wanting to continue their education, be that at a four-year college/university or an accredited trade/technical institution or junior college.
These $1,500 perpetual scholarships are awarded each year to two Norwood High School graduating seniors who meet the following criteria: Involved in athletics. Average student. Active in school, community or church programs. A strong individual who is passionate, kind, generous and good natured.
